Reporting to the Communications and Engagement Advisor Lead you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference and add to our work environment, within a place where you can learn and perform to your fullest potential.

The Role
We have an exciting 12 month opportunity in our leading practice Communications and Engagement Team, putting community and customers at the heart of our business.

This is a great opportunity to work on some exciting strategic projects, ensuring community and stakeholder engagement is embedded in Melbourne Water’s future-focused strategies, plans, programs and new initiatives.

If you have a curious mindset and can-do attitude, knowledge of IAP2 engagement principles and can apply these principles to develop and deliver strategic communications and engagement plans and great writing and communication skills, we’d love to hear from you.

Some of the projects you may have the opportunity to work on include Sunbury’s Water Future (integrated water management), exploration of community open space and recreation opportunities in the Yan Yean Reservoir and implementation of the Flood Strategy and Melbourne Sewerage Strategy, amongst others.

Your Skills and Experience
Lived experience developing and delivering proactive and innovative community engagement strategies on complex projects, business strategies or sensitive community issues.
Exceptional emotional intelligence, advocating on behalf of the community, whilst also ensuring business objectives are met.
Exceptional social awareness and ability to quickly and creatively redesign engagement activities to meet community expectations.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail.
Experience working in sensitive political environments.
Lived experience or demonstrated experience of a strong understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people will be highly beneficial to the role.
