The Wheatstone and Gorgon liquified natural gas (LNG) facilities are two of Australia’s largest natural gas plants and are helping to position Chevron as a major LNG operator in Australia and globally. Working on the front line will see you contribute to delivering crucial energy to the world.

Chevron Australia has several exciting opportunities for experienced Area Inspectors to join either the Gorgon or Wheatstone Maintenance and Reliability teams. These permanent roles will be fly-in fly-out on two weeks on, two weeks off rotational roster to Onslow/ Barrow Island travelling from Perth.

The successful candidates must be resident in Western Australia or willing to permanently relocate to Western Australia.

The role has accountability and responsibility for executing inspection & integrity enactment programs associated with Gorgon or Wheatstone LNG Fixed Equipment Asset Strategy. The Area Inspector is responsible for efficient inspection enactment with excellence in site Utilities, LNG and Inlet facilities.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serve as a member of the Fixed Equipment Integrity group reporting to the site inspection team lead. The team site provides inspection and integrity management services to Gorgon and Wheatstone LNG production facilities

  • Ensure safe and reliable operating conditions of fixed equipment through scheduled inspections and repairs to meet Australian code requirements and corporate standards

  • Develop Risk based Inspection assessments; identification of degradation threats & barriers and identification of appropriate inspection techniques to reasonably detect degradation

  • Site execution of the Fixed Equipment Asset strategy program and establish appropriate corrective actions. Perform internal and external inspection of pressure vessels, piping, tanks and structures

  • Ensure all inspection findings, anomalies and non-conformances are assessed and corrective actions raised as appropriate. Ensure measurement against relevant performance standards in line with the Anomaly Management process

  • Communicate immediate and emerging integrity threats to leadership in a timely manner

  • Produce and compile appropriate inspection reporting for upload into the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and data management system.

  • Ensure inspection activities are completed safely and efficiently to the required standard in accordance with the agreed schedule for Risk Based Inspection base business, turnaround, projects and campaign programs.

  • Lead, supervise and co-ordinate site based inspection team members (agency and 3rd Party Contractors)

  • Assist the site team lead in the allocation of inspection execution resources to support business priorities

  • Strong & open communication with Perth FEI group to facilitate efficient service delivery as directed by the Asset Integrity Lead and the Site Inspection Lead

  • Facilitate repair scope development, enactment and completion of post repair inspections

  • Work with maintenance and operations teams to optimize inspection enactment with excellence. Provide site expertise to ensure work scopes are well defined and efficiently executable

  • Ensure all equipment required to complete inspection workscope are in place and functioning

  • Participate in shutdown inspection scope planning and site execution

  • Identify labour & equipment cost optimization opportunities

  • Support pressure safety device inspection & testing program to meet regulatory and Chevron standards.

  • Support the Integrity Operating Window program as outlined in governance documents

  • Support the Expert Group Risk Based Inspection and integrity management revalidation process

  • Commitment to health, environment and safety and Chevron best practices

Key skills and experience required:

  • Bachelor degree in Materials, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering or relevant subject

  • With 3 to 10 years of work related experience

  • Knowledge and practical application of API510 & API 570 and / or AICIP certification

  • Demonstrated knowledge of LNG degradation mechanisms

  • Knowledge and application of Non-Destructive Testing technologies

  • Knowledge of basic metallurgy and welding applications

  • Self-motivated, organized and high attention to details

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and build key relationships that contribute to high-class business results
