Job Description

Services Australia makes government services simple so people can get on with their lives. Our goal is to make it easier to engage with the services that Australians rely on. To achieve this goal, we are transforming the way we work to deliver a simple, helpful, respectful and transparent experience for customers.

In 2020, our agency took centre stage, helping millions of Australians affected by devastating bushfires and COVID-19.

Our work spans social security and healthcare, in addition to disaster relief, assistance to farmers and specialised services for vulnerable communities.

About the program:
When you join our graduate program, you’ll help us make government services simple.

We’ll develop you as a leader and give you a range of experiences and opportunities to kick start your career in the Australian Public Service.

Our grads work in national and regional offices with plenty of support to help you meet your career and personal goals. Our dedicated team will help you along the way and we’ll team you up with a graduate buddy and executive mentor.

We’re looking for a wide range of people to join us. We want people with all kinds of backgrounds who’ve graduated or will graduate from their degree between 6 February 2017 and 6 February 2022.

As a public-sector employer, we provide generous remuneration, superannuation and leave entitlements. For grads who join us in 2022, we offer 2 pay points.

What you’ll get paid depends on your qualification level:

  • if you’ve completed an undergrad degree, we’ll pay you $61,902
  • if you’ve completed a double degree or have a higher qualification, we’ll pay you $68,993

If you successfully complete the program, you’ll progress to an APS 5 classification, no matter what your qualification level is.

Our 10-month program offers 8 streams:

  • Generalist
  • Communication
  • Data analytics
  • Finance
  • Legal
  • Social work
  • STEM
  • Human Resources

We accept all degrees in our generalist stream.

To apply for our communication, data analytics, finance, human resources, legal, social work or STEM streams, you need to have a degree relevant to one of those fields.

If you have a degree in any of these particular streams, you can also apply to our generalist stream. You can apply for more than one stream.

Human resources graduates
