The Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood FloorsA high-quality robot vacuum can make a huge difference in keeping allergens such as pet hair and dust under control. But not all models are created identical. If you’re looking for pet-friendly features in your vacuum or a robot to enhance your existing cleaner, there are many options.1. Eufy RoboVac G30 EdgeThe G30 Edge is the newest model in Eufy’s budget line robot vacuum cleaners. It’s a glossy black model with blue and rose-gold accents that resemble the design of a smartphone. It’s more user-friendly than the previous models and comes with features like BoostIQ which automatically boosts suction to ensure better cleaning of all surfaces. It also uses smart navigation to avoid repeating the same areas over and over, which is a common issue with simpler bounce-navigation systems. It is effective in cleaning pet hair, crumbs, and dust from hard floors, but falls behind the best models when it comes to removing flour from carpet. In our tests the G30 Edge missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% on carpet which is a bit disappointing. One feature that makes the G30 Edge stand out is the ability to map your home with an electronic map that is available in the app. This allows it to remember the rooms it has cleaned, and avoid returning to them. This is a major problem for the more basic robots that require the use traditional magnetic taps to mark areas that are not allowed to be in.The G30 Edge also has other conveniences. It has an “Find My Robot” mode that blasts out loud music until it is found and a directional keyboard that allows you manually move the robot. It also comes with an automatic return feature that sends the robot back to its charging station when the battery is at a low level. This is a safety feature.2. Neato Botvac D-ShapeThe Neato Botvac D shape robot is a robust machine that comes with a long list of intelligent features. It is able to clean floors well, and it can climb on carpets with a high pile easily. The app has advanced features like boundary lines, remote access to the robot when it is working, and many other options. This model is the most recent in a long series of robots from Neato and features a unique “D” shape when viewed from above. This design comes with a variety of advantages that include better corner cleaning and a bigger dust bin than the majority of models. The D-shape lets the robot to reach under furniture better than those that have a circular design. When the first cleaning process, the D-Shape will stop briefly to use spinning infrared lasers to scan and evaluate the area. It will then begin to clean by grid pattern and move in a systematic manner from one area to the next until the floor is completely covered. This method of cleaning is more efficient and thorough than the random approach taken by other companies. The d-shape design allows the D-Shape’s large dust bin, with 700ml, compared to 400- 600ml for similarly priced robots. This increased capacity means that you’ll have to empty the dust bin less often, saving your time and effort. The D-Shape features flat sides on the front that helps to maneuver over obstacles like chairs and tables. In our tests, the D-Shape did get stuck under a four-legged stool and an electrical cord that was not covered however it was able to get out every time.3. Roomba I3+ EVThe Roomba i3+ EVO is an excellent choice for pet owners. It works well on hard floors, and it does an excellent job of cleaning up debris such as pet hair, rice, cereal and other small particles. It struggles on carpet, but is still better than other robots in this price. The Roomba i3+ EVO also does very well in navigating between different flooring types and doesn’t get caught up on transitions the way older generations can. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adapt to different flooring types and are able to resist the tangles in pet hair.best robot vacuum and mop for pet hair Robot Vacuum Mops i3+ EVO has weaker obstacle avoidance than some of the other robots we evaluated. It frequently ran into objects like pet toys, handbags, and shoes before continuing its route. It also had difficulty dealing with coarse sea salt that it blew around instead of picking up.The i3+ EVO comes with a host of features that make it well worth the price over other Roomba models. This includes the ability to self-empty the bin and more advanced control with an app. You can schedule cleanings and set up custom routines. You can also create zones that block the robot from entering certain areas. Its smart scheduling can even suggest additional cleanings during high allergy times depending on your routine. Its navigation system is not reliable however, and often vacuums in irregular lines, such as diagonals or zigzags rather than parallel to walls.4. Shark AI Self-Empty, XLThis smart robot is able to visualize your home’s interior, better than you. It also has dual brushes that can adjust to various kinds of flooring and avoids getting caught, making it the perfect option for homes with pets. You can control the robot through the app, or activate it hands-free by using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The dock, which is called Omni automates tasks like filling and cleaning the robot’s water tanks, emptying the debris bins, charging and drier the mop pads. It’s a great price. The Shark AI Self-Empty XL is less expensive than many other robots we’ve reviewed however it comes with advanced features, such as mapping and an automatic self-emptying dustbin that holds a good amount of dust. It was extremely clean and maneuvered well in a house with a mix of carpeting with low pile or floors that were unfinished and a mix of both. The vacuum does a great job of removing pet fur on carpeting. However, it doesn’t have as much power as our top selections. However the Roborock S4 Max is better built, takes much less time to recharge than the Shark and offers a wider range of automated and scheduling options and support for no-go zones. We’d still recommend the Shark If you’re looking for something less expensive, or if you prefer to use your mobile phone to monitor and control your device rather than a remote that is specifically designed for it.5. Bissell SpinWave Dry and WetIt’s hard to find a machine that combines vacuuming and mopping however this one does just that. Its two-tank system can effectively vacuum or mops with the touch of the button. It was able to easily switch between surfaces in our tests, and was able to excel at picking up pet hair from both hardwood floors and carpets. It also comes with an edge-sweeping tool that can remove hairs from baseboards and walls. This robot is a good choice if you are looking for a model that’s affordable and comes with additional features. It was able to navigate obstacles with ease during our testing and can be controlled by an app or voice. It even supports scheduled cleanings and has a large trash bin to catch the mess before it gets full. It can take it up to 166 mins to complete its task, but this is still quicker than other robots we have tested. The front-facing camera of this robot allows you to monitor the cleanliness of your home through a map with an app. This is particularly useful in the event that you need to find a particular item or if your kids have spilled glitter from their festive decorations all over your floor. It will save you a lot frustration by locating that lost item right away. The fade-free lithium batteries can last for as long as 130 minutes on a single charge.6. Roomba 694The Roomba 694 is an elegant robot that provides excellent cleaning. It does a great job moving its self and can reach under furniture without becoming stuck. It’s also great for low-pile carpet and rugs. However, it might occasionally get caught in rug tassels and has trouble getting around corners or tight spaces. It also has trouble picking up pet hair from all surfaces.Despite the 694’s lack of features however, it still performs well than the majority of competitors. It scored a perfect 10 in our cereal carpet test, and did well in our test of cat litter with just a few stray pieces. It’s less effective on hardwood floors however. Its side brush scatters huge cereal particles that stick to the floor instead of being vacuumed. It also had trouble collecting table salt on floor that was not paved, as a lot of grains slid across the floor. It allows voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant via an external device (sold separately). It learns about your cleaning habits and then creates customized schedules. Cliff Detect and an edge-sweeping brush ensure that it can get into hard-to-reach corners, while Dirt Detect sensors alert it to areas that are heavily soiled. Its battery lasts about 60 minutes, and it comes with a self-emptying dustbin. The more expensive iRobot J7 is more sophisticated and is better on all surfaces. It also feels better constructed and has a bigger dust bin it charges faster and is able to navigate obstacles such as electrical cords with ease.
