It may be enough for some, especially if they have multiple Samsung products. The SmartThings app is a bit polished and well rounded It comes with a ‘if you do x, then y’ automation feature that performs surprisingly well. You can set up things like alarms that go off when sensors for water leaks detect the presence of a flood, or turn on lighting when your phone detects you’re at home. It can control your fridge if you connect it to a smart socket but we’ve had mixed success with that. You’ll need a hub to use SmartThings, and it’s not expensive. Samsung offers a range of different options which include the SmartThings Station that you can attach to an existing router and use it as a nightlight. You can now create distinct profiles for each family member to allow them to customize the information and apps that they can access.
