We have exciting opportunities for experienced Ramp Services Operators ranging from Level 3 to Level 7, to join our Sydney International Airport Ramp team on a permanent part-time basis.

Experienced Ramp Services Operators deliver high performance standards around all aspects of ramp handling, meeting the requirements of our customers and maintaining health and safety and overall good working practices in accordance to company policies and procedures at all times.

Main accountabilities include:

  • Duties in addition to all lower grades.
  • Maintaining a strong safety culture within the workforce – driving WH&S awareness and compliance.
  • Responsible for a number of groups of staff.
  • Responsible for the control, supervision and training of designated staff in accordance with established procedure by means of personal instruction and demonstration.
  • Sign off on load plans and supervise loading and unloading of containerised aircraft.
  • Sign appropriate documentation certifying that the aircraft has been loaded in accordance with the above requirements.
  • Perform aircraft pushback and repositioning.
  • Demonstrate leadership, decision making and organisation skills necessary to efficiently meet performance requirements in a changing work environment.
  • Ascertain daily work schedules and allocate specific task to meet daily work objectives within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that productivity and performance criteria are met in the designated area of responsibility, which includes fulfilling regular performance assessment reports of staff.
  • Manage future shifts and staffing levels and the appropriate level of staff on duty.
  • Must demonstrate leadership, decision making and organisational skills necessity to efficiently meet performance requirements in a changing work environment.
  • Attend meetings as required by ramp manager.
  • Liaise with Management, Level 8, Level 6 BSR, Ramp IBC, Service desk and Passenger Services Supervisors.
  • Manage and report OH&S concerns and maintain a safe working environment in designated area.
  • Allocate staff meal breaks in accordance with Menzies Aviation TWU EBA and relevant award.
  • Assist with presenting induction training and participation on interview panels.
  • Ensure flight reports are filled out correctly.
  • Maintain Airline certification/sign offs.
  • “Work Down” as directed.

Candidate requirements

  • Must be a current holder of an ADA licence.
  • Strong Ramp Operational knowledge and experience.
  • Detailed understanding of customer airline systems.
  • Detailed understanding of government regulations.
  • Security Awareness.
  • Dangerous Goods Awareness.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead by example whilst guiding and developing staff in a confident and mature manner.
  • A strong service delivery focus and a desire to exceed expectations.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to adapt to new ways of thinking.
  • Experience working within a fast paced environment and high attention to detail.

Safety, Security and Compliance

  • Carry out work in accordance with information and training provided and any specific workplace health and safety rules or procedures.
  • Fully understand the company health and safety policy.
  • Attend training courses as may be arranged by the Company.
  • Engage with MORSE and follow our code principles.

An employee who impedes the implementation of a safe and healthy system of work, or puts themselves or others at risk by not following health and safety procedures or by engaging in horseplay, will face serious disciplinary action. Endangering the health and safety of people, is considered in most Countries and States to be a breach of law, and enforcing officials (e.g. fire officers, local health and safety authority) could bring prosecutions against the Company, Company Directors, Management and employees alike.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A high degree of expertise in multiple airline processes and general operating procedures, requirements and systems.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead by example whilst guiding and developing staff in a confident and mature manner.
  • A strong service delivery focus and a desire to exceed expectations.
  • A flexible attitude and willingness to adapt to new ways of thinking.
  • Experience working within a fast paced environment and high attention to detail.
  • Dangerous Goods awareness and handling requirements.
  • Security awareness.
  • Hold and maintain valid state drivers licence.
  • Ability to obtain, hold and maintain valid ASIC.
  • Ability to obtain, hold and maintain valid CAT 4 ADA licence.
