Mature Age Apprentice – Mechanic

We currently have an excellent opportunity available to be part of the success of the Thrifty business and its subsidiary, AUS Mechanical Services throughout Western Australia.

From manufacturer log book servicing to major repairs with a diverse fleet of vehicles, small passenger to light trucks, there is no better training ground than right here. If you’re an aspiring individual with a genuine passion of wanting to be a mechanic, who wants to learn more than just how to replace and re-fit and instead wants to finish their apprenticeship as a highly skilled, well rounded experienced mechanic, then we want to talk to you! Because of our business relationship with key motor vehicle and truck manufacturers, you will also have access to genuine manufacturer training, in particular Toyota and Hino. Not only will you become highly trained in mechanic repairs, but your training will also include windscreen fitment and air conditioner gas / re-gas training.

Successful candidates must be willing to work overtime with early morning starts and occasional Saturday mornings during peak workload periods (Penalty rates will apply). Over time successful candidates once proven, will also have access to short and long term internal transfers to our Pilbara workshop, if so desired.

The successful candidate will be a mature age apprentice that will add value to our dynamic team and support the business in periods of growth. The successful candidate will be motivated and have a desire to develop and broaden their skills. The mature age apprentice will receive ongoing support as they work, train and study towards achieving a nationally recognised qualification.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Pre-Employment medical to include Drug and Alcohol testing.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • A ‘can-do’ attitude
  • Basic computer skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Unrestricted manual driver’s licence (MR licence preferred)
  • Ability to take directions from a qualified Vehicle Mechanic
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
